Abstract

In the Islamic worldview, human is a precious being and has special position. Therefore, many Muslim scholars have tied verse 30 of Surah Al-Baqarah with the prominent position of humans and considered him as God's vicegerent.Meanwhile, there are differences of opinion about the criteria for granting this position to humans. Some consider God’s vicegerent to be a perfect man, while others consider him to be a knowing of God’s names. The third group believes that the secret to achieving this position is that human-being consists of the divine spirit. But some scholars don’t accept the existence of this status for humans and interpreted the meaning of caliphate in this verse as Adam’s succession from the pastSome of these scholars, considering the environmental debates and the consequences of the divine caliphate, have accepted the latter view and have not accepted the God’s vicegerent of human. In this research, which deals with the meaning of the verses of God’s vicegerent analytically, while referring to the viewpoints related to the criteria of the caliphate and the example of the position of God’s vicegerent, the selected view on the achievement of God’s vicegerent position by human has been introduced. Finally, with the help of selected opinions, the problem of contradictions between the human caliphate and environmental debates has been discussed and solved.
